Though occupations concerned with the production of services are not associated with high accident rates, they do present a certain number of risks related to sedentary work. The main pathological conditions observed are musculoskeletal disorders linked with poor posture on the job; vision problems connected to working in front of a computer screen; compromised cardiovascular health rooted in lack of physical activity; and tobacco, OTC and prescription drug, alcohol, or other addictions prompted by burnout and stress. Though their working conditions have notably improved over the last years, employees of construction companies are no less exposed to certain occupational risks associated with inclement weather, noise, carrying heavy loads, and handling harsh substances.
