I received a kit from the old screening campaign, what should I do with it?
You will automatically receive a new kit from BIONEXT by mail in September.
I am a cross-border worker and would like to be screened.
Anyone affiliated with the National Health Fund, within the targeted age group, can participate in this program. Non-residents do not automatically receive an invitation but can request one by contacting the cancer screening programs coordination center by phone at 247-755550.
Is my participation in the screening program voluntary?
Yes, your participation in the program is entirely voluntary. If you no longer wish to be invited, simply notify your refusal in writing to the Cancer Screening Programs Coordination Center (Health Directorate) by completing the dedicated section on your invitation voucher.
Who will receive my result?
The results will be sent to you and the doctor you indicated on the identification form and the doctor at the cancer screening programs coordination center.
Can I drop off the sample Kit at another laboratory?
No, you must drop your Kit off at one of our BIONEXT Laboratories or send it to us by post using the prepaid return envelope.
Do I have to pay to take this test?
There is no cost for you to take this test. It is fully covered by the Health Directorate.
Why participate in the Organized Colorectal Cancer Screening Program?
Colorectal cancer is a common cancer that is easier to treat if detected early. It develops slowly, often without pain or digestive symptoms, from lesions called polyps, which can bleed in the intestine. The bleeding associated with a polyp or cancer is not visible to the naked eye. That is why it is important to do a screening test for blood in the stool (called the FIT test). Detected lesions can then be treated.
I did the test, sent it, but forgot to include the identification form. Do I need to redo everything?
YES, one or more mandatory pieces of information required for the test will be missing, so the test cannot be carried out. You can order or pick up a new Kit.
I did the test, put it in the envelope, and sealed it. I forgot to put the identification form inside. Can I open the envelope?
YES, you can reopen the envelope within two minutes after sealing it the first time.
I need a new test because there was a problem with the first one. Can I get another one?
YES, you can order or pick up a new Kit.
I recently had a colonoscopy and another one is scheduled in X time. Should I do the FIT test?
When the invitations are sent out, the health status of the individuals, or whether they have had a previous colonoscopy, is not known. That is why you receive the test. If you want to take the test, you can, but in your case, it is not very useful. However, it is always helpful to inform the Coordination Center's doctor that a colonoscopy has been done by returning the invitation letter or the identification form with this information. This way, new tests will no longer be sent unnecessarily. The information provided to the Coordination Center remains confidential and protected.
How do I know if my test is expired or not?
You will find an expiration date on your Kit and on the tube. Make sure there are more than 3 days left before this date before doing the test because once this date has passed, the laboratory will no longer be able to analyze your sample.
When should I do the test after receiving the Kit?
You can do the test at any time before the Kit's expiration date. However, avoid doing the test on a Friday evening or the day before a public holiday so that your sample can be sent and analyzed as quickly as possible.
The recipient is eligible but has never received an invitation or has lost it.
To obtain their invitation or find out when they will receive it, the person can call the Coordination Center at 247-75550 or send a message specifying their matriculation number to the address: colorectal@ms.etat.lu
The recipient is under 45 years old or over 74 years old or is not affiliated with CNS and wants to participate.
Only people aged 45 to 74 affiliated with CNS can participate. For those not eligible, the test can be performed under medical prescription and thus covered by CNS as a regular examination. It is also available upon request and can be performed at the requester's expense without a prescription.
I received my invitation in a language I don't understand. Can I get the Kit in another language?
YES, the language of your Kit does not have to be the same as that of your invitation. You can select the language of the Kit when ordering or picking it up at the BIONEXT laboratory or pharmacy. You can therefore get the Kit in the language of your choice. If needed, all documents are available on bionext.lu in five languages (FR, DE, LU, PT, and EN). If you want to change the language of your file, please contact the coordination center of the Health Directorate at 247-75550.
