On the occasion of Mars Bleu 2026, the national month dedicated to colorectal cancer screening awareness, BIONEXT laboratory reminds the public of the vital importance of information and prevention.
When detected early, this cancer can be cured in 9 out of 10 cases.
BIONEXT: Reference laboratory for the PDOCCR programme
Did you know that BIONEXT is the reference laboratory in Luxembourg for the Organised Colorectal Cancer Screening Programme (PDOCCR), mandated by the Ministry of Health?
In this context, our public health mission is based on two essential pillars:
- Prevention: Informing patients and supporting prescribing physicians in their crucial role of raising awareness in Luxembourg.
- Screening: Ensuring the performance and analysis of screening tests through a secure, rigorous and easily accessible process.
The FIT test: A simple, quick screening test to be carried out at home
Screening is based on the FIT test (Fecal Immunochemical Test), a method used to detect hidden blood in stool samples.
It is a simple, quick and completely painless test, to be carried out every 2 years directly at home.
When detected early, colorectal cancer can be cured. If you or one of your loved ones are concerned (in particular residents aged 55 to 74), make this month of March a month of action.
