Just One Step Away from Becoming Parents

The desire for a child is unfortunately not always followed by pregnancy.

Today, 1 in 5 couples are or will be faced with fertility problems. This issue requires comprehensive care to make the right diagnosis and propose the appropriate solution.

BIONEXT Laboratory accompanies you throughout your Medically Assisted Reproduction (MAR) journey, providing concrete and personalized solutions for your parenthood project.

Our expert Biologists in this field share their knowledge and experience to help you better understand the various factors that influence fertility. Read the interview with Dr. Thibault Ferrandon: "The care of couples requires a multidisciplinary approach."

Do you know what infertility is?

A couple is considered infertile if they do not achieve pregnancy after 12 months of regular, unprotected sexual intercourse without contraception. BIONEXT Laboratory conducts various sperm analysis tests as part of the couple’s infertility assessment.

After one year of unsuccessful attempts, or even six months for women over 35, it is time to consult your doctor to discuss the next steps.
Male, female, or mixed origins, infertility is linked to various factors: age, lifestyle, medical reasons, environment, etc.

What are the different steps of your MAR journey?

First Gynecological Consultation

This meeting is essential for discussion and conducting certain clinical examinations.
The doctor also prescribes the necessary biological tests.

What is a fertility assessment?

All the analyses prescribed in your fertility assessment are performed by BIONEXT Laboratory.
This assessment helps identify potential causes of infertility by conducting biological analyses to determine the best options for a future pregnancy.

🔎 What are we looking for?

♀♂️ Blood tests for both partners: screening for HIV, Hepatitis B and C, and Syphilis in the blood.

♂️ Sperm culture: to analyze the presence or absence of bacteria in the semen. This test requires a semen sample that you can collect at home.

Vaginal swab: this analysis helps detect an ongoing infection that might go unnoticed.

♂️ Sperm analysis: a medical test analyzing various characteristics of the semen. The test aims to assess the number of sperm, their mobility, and their morphology.

♂️ Sperm survival test (SST): involves selecting, activating, and counting the most mobile sperm and assessing their survival after 24 hours to determine which MAR technique can be proposed. This is an essential test for further steps.

Second Gynecological Consultation

Your gynecologist will interpret the results of the various tests.

If an Intrauterine Insemination (IUI) is planned, an ovarian stimulation treatment will be prescribed to optimize the chances of success. It is adapted according to your ovulation profile. Monitoring (by ultrasound and hormone assays) helps determine the best time to trigger ovulation. The insemination will be scheduled for the next day or the day after.

Your gynecologist plans an Intrauterine Insemination, what will happen on the day?

At the laboratory : sperm collection and preparation to select the mobile sperm. We need 2 hours to prepare the sample.
