What is Health Check Week - Diabetes, Heart & Kidneys?

The medical analysis laboratory BIONEXT and the biopharmaceutical laboratory Boehringer Ingelheim are organizing the Health Check Week – Diabetes, Heart & Kidneys.

This innovative screening campaign is being organized for the first time in Luxembourg, in 8 BIONEXT laboratories across the country.

The objective? Early detection of preventable chronic diseases with major incidence: diabetes, cardiovascular and kidney diseases.

These conditions often remain silent for a long time, frequently leading to delayed diagnosis and absence of preventive measures that could slow disease progression.

How does screening work?

It is essential to be on an empty stomach (no food intake during the 12 hours prior to screening).

Screening requires:

- a blood test

- a urine sample

- collection of clinical information

- measurement of certain vital signs
 

Analyses performed include:

- Blood glucose

- Glycated hemoglobin

- Blood creatinine

- Urinary albumin

- Lipid profile (total cholesterol, HDL, LDL, triglycerides)

Using these data, 4 risk estimation scores are calculated:

- FINDRISC: risk of developing type 2 diabetes in the next 10 years.

- SCORE2: risk of a cardiovascular event in the next 10 years.

- FRAMINGHAM: risk of developing hypertension in the next 4 years.

- Kidney prognosis score: risk of progression of chronic kidney disease.

During Health Check Week, all these examinations are available:
- free of charge
- without appointment
- without prescription

This screening is open to all residents and cross-border workers.

When?

From Monday 01/12/2025 to Saturday 06/12/2025 inclusive.
